The Adrian Suskin Lung Cancer Memorial Fund
My late father Adrian Suskin has been sorely missed, across the globe for the ways he contributed to the world and how easily he could make people smile.
He was many things: a father, a son, a brother, a friend, a philanthropist, and a seasoned airline pilot.
Beyond all of these, he was also impacted by the leading cause of cancer death: lung cancer. After a nearly seven-year battle with the disease, he succumbed to his illness peacefully and surrounded by our family on November 23, 2014.
One thing Adrian Suskin was not was a smoker. In fact, only 21% of people diagnosed each year are currently smokers. 18%, like my dad, were never smokers at all. In fact, non-smoking lung cancer is the sixth leading cause of cancer death.
This disease is extremely deadly, taking the lives of 433 people each day. Unfortunately, it is extremely underfunded despite its overwhelming impact.
Lung Cancer Alliance is the top-rated lung cancer charity today, and is in the top one percent of all charities in the United States. By making a donation to this page, however large or small, we can help Lung Cancer Alliance to save lives and advance research by empowering those living with and at risk for lung cancer. Hopefully in time, we can work to eradicate the disease entirely.
