As family and friends of Darrell Treu, we celebrate and remember his life. During this difficult time, we are thankful for each of your kind words, embracing hugs and shoulders to lean on.
Cancer research is important to us because we know someday, cancer will be a disease of the past. We have chosen to designate donations to the Lung Cancer Alliance. Please help us fund innovative research for a cure and help people across the country impacted by lung cancer in honor of our loved ones.
Darrell was diagnosed with Sarcomatoid Carcinoma on March 12, 2015. It is a very rare form of non-small cell lung cancer with only 1% of the population getting this type of cancer. He was diagnosed at Stage 4 and was told he had anywhere from one to thirteen months to live. Almost 4 years (45 months) later, on January 4, 2019 he lost the battle but he didn’t go down without a fight and he never gave up hope. He stayed positive and ‘treuly’ lived every day to the fullest. In his final months he wanted to Pay it Forward by participating in a clinical trial to try and help cancer research. He simply became too ill and was only able to participate in one round. During his final weeks he still asked the doctors if he could do one more round to try and get data for research.
Darrell was a selfless human and we will never give up in the fight against cancer. Thank you for standing beside our family, for remembering Darrell and for considering a gift to the Lung Cancer Alliance in Darrell Treu’s memory.
